Shadows of Curiosity

The mansion was quiet, a stark contrast to the chaos of the day. The high ceilings and dark, ornate walls usually felt oppressive, but tonight, they seemed almost... comforting. I sat in the study, a glass of whiskey in hand, staring at the flickering flames in the fireplace. The day had been... strange. Peaceful, even. And peace was something I hadn’t known in centuries. Not since I ruled the Abyss with fire and fury, not since I was a demon king feared by mortals and immortals alike.

But today, I had played tag with children. Children. Me. Tavish. The Bringer of Chaos. The Lord of Flames. Reduced to running around a courtyard, dodging tiny humans who had no idea what I truly was. And yet, for a moment, I hadn’t hated it. Their laughter, their energy—it was infectious. Even Dhriti’s smug smile hadn’t been enough to ruin it.
