Morning light streamed through the tall windows of Dhriti’s office, casting a golden hue over the polished wooden desk. The hum of the city beyond was distant, almost unnoticeable. Tavish sat in his usual chair across from her, skimming through yet another contract—his patience thinning with every passing second.
Tavish leaned back in his chair, staring blankly at the papers in front of him. But it did nothing to calm the storm brewing inside him. His mind kept wandering back to last night—the way his patience had shattered, the way he’d allowed himself to be so soft. He could still hear her words, her tone, as if she’d played him like a well-tuned instrument.
"Focus, Tavish". He whispered to himself, a reminder of his true motives
It was amusing, really. A demon king, now reduced to reading through mortal paperwork. If his past self could see him now, he would have laughed. Or perhaps, burned this entire building down in rage.
And yet, here he was.
His eyes flickered toward Dhriti. She was focused on her laptop, typing away with her usual precision. A picture of control, of command.
Then, without looking up, she slid a paper across the desk toward him.
“Take care of this,” she said.
Tavish arched a brow but picked it up. A list.
“Am I supposed to decipher some ancient mortal scripture?” he drawled.
Dhriti finally looked at him, unimpressed. “It’s a list of items I need you to purchase and deliver to this address.” She tapped a section at the bottom, where an address was neatly written. “Everything has already been selected. You just need to go, finalize the check, and make sure the delivery happens by tomorrow.”
Tavish’s brows knit together. “You want me to go… shopping?”
“Yes.”
For a moment, he just stared at her, waiting for her to say she was joking. When she didn’t, his grip on the paper tightened.
“You have dozens of employees working under you,” he said, his voice calm but sharp. “And yet, you expect me to handle this?”
“I expect you to do your job,” she countered smoothly. “And right now, this is your job.”
His jaw clenched.
He could incinerate this piece of paper. Right now. A flick of his fingers, and this entire task would cease to exist.
But instead, he exhaled through his nose, snatched the list, and pushed his chair back. “Fine.”
Dhriti didn’t even acknowledge his irritation. Just nodded once and returned to her work.
Tavish stormed out of the office.
--------
Two hours later, he was back—not in a good mood.
He strode into her office and slammed the paper onto her desk. “Why,” he began, his voice eerily calm, “have you placed an order for five hundred of the same item?”
Dhriti barely reacted.
Instead, she collected the paper and set it aside. “Is the order confirmed?”
Tavish’s fingers twitched. “I didn’t waste my time for nothing.”
“Good,” she said, standing up and grabbing her handbag. “Now, take the car out. We’re going out.”
Tavish narrowed his eyes.
He had barely contained his irritation before. But this—this—was the breaking point.
He let out a sharp laugh, his patience finally snapping. “Let me get this straight. First, you make me run around this city like a common errand boy, and now, you want me to be your driver?”
Dhriti looked at him blankly. “Yes.”
A muscle in his jaw ticked.
“Do you have any idea who I am?” he hissed, stepping closer. “I have commanded armies that made empires tremble. I have ruled over realms that mortals like you fear to even speak of.”
“And now, you’re standing here throwing a tantrum like a child,” Dhriti mused, tilting her head. “Fascinating.”
Tavish inhaled sharply. “I am not your servant.”
“Then stop acting like one and drive,” she said simply, before walking past him toward the door.
For a second, Tavish considered murder.
But instead, he turned, grabbed the car keys from the desk with an unnecessary amount of force, and followed her out.

A Trip to the Mall
Tavish had no idea where they were going.
And frankly, he didn’t care.
His grip on the steering wheel was tight, his jaw locked. He could feel Dhriti’s presence in the passenger seat, calm as ever, as if she wasn’t the reason behind his current suffering.
Finally, he broke the silence. “You still haven’t answered my question.”
She glanced at him. “Which one?”
He gritted his teeth. “Why did you order five hundred of the same thing?”
Dhriti simply looked away, watching the city blur past the window. “You don’t need to know.”
His fingers twitched. “You expect me to waste my time running errands for you and don’t even give me an explanation?”
“Yes.”
Tavish exhaled slowly, painfully, before muttering something in a language long forgotten by mortals.
They pulled up outside a luxury mall, and Tavish glanced around, his brow furrowing. “Why are we here?”
Dhriti opened the door and stepped out. “Come on.”
Tavish followed—partly because he wanted answers, partly because he was still debating if setting this place on fire would be worth it.
-----------
The store they entered was exquisite. Glass cases gleamed under soft golden lighting, displaying watches worth more than most humans made in a year. The air itself carried the scent of wealth, refinement, power.
Tavish leaned against a display counter, watching as Dhriti carefully selected a Rolex—an exquisite piece, dark-toned with a subtle gold finish.
She turned it over in her hands, inspecting it with a critical eye. Then, without hesitation, she pulled out her card and paid.
Tavish watched closely, but she gave no hint of who it was for.
As they left the store, Tavish crossed his arms. “Are you finally going to tell me what this is all for?”
Dhriti smirked. “No.”
Tavish clenched his jaw. “Do you enjoy testing my patience?”
“Not really.”
“Then—”
“But I do enjoy watching you struggle,” she added, completely ignoring his glare as she walked ahead.
Tavish stood there for a moment, staring at her retreating figure.
One day, he thought darkly.
One day, he was going to get his powers back.
And when he did—
Well.
He hadn’t decided yet if he would thank her…
Or burn everything down.
Oh Tavish, you poor thing 😂. Once a demon king, now a glorified delivery boy. Honestly, watching him get dragged around by Dhriti is the highlight of my day. He’s like a puppy that’s been promised treats but is only getting errands. 😏
But let’s talk about Dhriti for a second. She’s over there, all cool and collected, while Tavish is one emotional breakdown away from burning down the entire city. 🙃 “Do you have any idea who I am?” he asks. Buddy, we ALL know who you were—a king. Now? A shopping assistant. And the best part? He still has no idea why he's being sent to a luxury mall to buy watches. 😂
Come on, Tavish, when’s the last time you had to stand in line to buy anything? 😂 Plot twist: Dhriti is secretly loving this.
So here’s the million-dollar question: Will Tavish keep his cool or snap like a twig? 🥴 Drop your thoughts below and vote—the next chapter is about to get even juicier! 🔥
